Woods acquires Jupiter Island property for $38 million

JUPITER ISLAND, Fla. — Tiger Woods has completed a $38 million purchase of 10 acres of residential property stretching from the Atlantic Ocean to the Intracoastal Waterway.

The transaction marks the largest single residential sale in Martin County history.

Woods’ new property includes a 13,207-square-foot home, several guest houses and two docks, perhaps with enough space for his 155-foot yacht. Records show the main, two-story home includes eight bedrooms and 13 bathrooms, and another house has six bedrooms and seven baths.

The property was sold to three companies, each with a common Orlando address that belongs to ETW Corp., the licensing agent for Woods. He and his father, Earl, are listed as two of the company’s principals.

Jupiter Island, a waterfront strip north of Palm Beach considered among the nation’s wealthiest enclaves, is home to golfers Greg Norman and Nick Price and singers Celine Dion and Alan Jackson.

Woods, who turned 30 last month, has a home in Orlando recently assessed at $2.5 million. He and his wife, Elin, also own property in California, Sweden and Jackson, Wyo.

Woman takes unique approach to buy drugs

WEST FARGO, N.D. - A North Dakota State University student is facing charges after allegedly trying to buy marijuana at the police station here.

Saturday’s incident was “about the craziest thing I’ve ever come across,” Officer Ken Zeeb said. “This is something that you couldn’t even make up.”

The 20-year-old woman called the police station about 3:15 a.m. Saturday, asking where she could buy marijuana, authorities said. The dispatcher, after repeatedly telling the woman it was illegal to sell and possess marijuana, then told her that police had some of the drug in the station’s evidence locker.

Zeeb had arrived for his 4 a.m. shift about 15 minutes early and was in the evidence locker room when the woman arrived.

“The dispatcher got on the intercom and said, ‘You know what? She’s here. She just handed me $3 for marijuana,’” Zeeb said.

The woman was arrested on charges of criminal attempt and possession of drug paraphernalia.

“She didn’t seem like she was really under the influence of drugs or alcohol,” Zeeb said. “She understood what was going on and articulated herself well.”

Granting Read-Only Access to IIS

Apache/IIS, System Administration No Comments »

There may come a time when you need to grant someone Read-Only access to IIS, perhaps for developers to be able to see settings without being able to make changes to them.

If you’ve been in this position then you also know that it’s not a built-in feature with IIS - which to me, is suprising.

So how do you do it?  Well, you do it by using an un-supported work around of course!

You will need Metabase Explorer for this - it is included with the IIS 6 Resource Kit

Create new group
Create a special group for non-local admin users, eg DevelopmentIIS
Add the users to the DevelopmentIIS group
Add the DevelopmentIIS group to the IIS_WPG local group

Grant Basic Metabase Access
Run Metabase Explorer, right click on the COMPUTER node property and select permissions
Grant the DevelopmentIIS group - READ permissions
Click on LM (Local Machine), right click, and select permissions
Grant DevelopmentIIS group - READ permissions
Click on W3SVC, right click, and select permissions
Grant DevelopmentIIS group - READ permissions
Repeat for App Pools, Filters, and Info nodes.

XM Radio

Computing, XM Radio No Comments »

I find myself listening to XM Radio a LOT and thought I’d list a couple things I like, the first is a program called XampDesktop, it is used instead of the XM Online web page. It sits in your system try, integrates with MSN Messenger, allows you to create artist/song alerts, channel presets, and perhaps most importantly - doesn’t time out!! I leave mine running 24×7.

XampD can be downloaded at: http://xampd.imomo.net/download/

Another one I like is Mini XM - it allows you to play XM Radio on your mobile phone, browse to http://mobile.minixm.com/DS/MOBILE/ on your mobile phone to listen.

Accessing Tivo with Orb on PPC-6700

Mobile Devices, Pocket PC No Comments »

Ever since I got my Sprint PPC-6700 I have been looking for ways to take advantage of having EVDO - using it with ORB has been one of the best so far.

For those that don’t know - Orb allows you to stream Music/Movies/Pictures from a computer over the internet. I’ve used it to stream my music to my phone and had great success. My next thought was to try streaming movies - but I usually don’t have time to sit and watch movies anymore. Next thought? Getting my Tivo recorded shows on Orb.

I did a little searching and found “DVR Everywhere” an add-on for Orb that will allow me to stream everything from the Tivo Desktop software. Next time you sign in at http://my.orb.com you will see TivoAnywhere in the Add-Ons section. Go to config and enter your TiVo box IP Address and the Media Access Key. If you want to remotely schedule programs you will need to provide your TiVo web login and password. The login info is securely encoded on your home PC.
